Today is Good Friday. It is difficult for me to find words to describe my gratitude for the greatest act of love our world has ever known. I reflect back to the times when I had the amazing privilege of sitting on the sacred Mount of Olives and some of the thoughts I had during those special times. I think about all of the lessons I have had about the Atonement. I ponder all of the scriptures that have helped me to better understand the Atonement. I think about my baptism and all of the times I have had the sacred opportunity to partake of the sacrament. And I still can't explain how much it means to me. I just wanted to write a little post right now but over the next few days I will organize my thoughts and feelings and try to put them into words. For now I think the words of two hymns will have to suffice.
How Great Thou Art:
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
I Stand all Amazed:
I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me
Confused at the grace that so fully He proffers me
I tremble to know that for me He was crucified
That for me, a sinner, He suffered, He bled and died.
Oh, it is wonderful
that He should care for me
enough to die for me!
Oh it is wonderful, wonderful to me!
I marvel that He would descend from his throne divine
To rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine
That He should extend His great love unto such as I
Sufficient to own, to redeem and to justify.
Oh, it is wonderful
that He should care for me
enough to die for me!
Oh it is wonderful, wonderful to me!
I think of His hands, pierced and bleeding to pay my debt
Such mercy, such love and devotion can I forget?
No, no, I will praise and adore at the mercy seat
Until at the glorified throne I kneel at His feet.
Oh, it is wonderful
that He should care for me
enough to die for me!
Oh it is wonderful, wonderful to me!

Lisa, Thanks so much for commenting on my blog so that I knew that YOU had a blog! I've just spent a few minutes browsing back through it and remembering why those few days at Lake Powell were some of the richest of my life! A boy, mmmmm? Actually Sister Annie Hale intimated to me, in a letter that she sent, that such was the case! You look great together. So sorry about the nasty surgery. I hope you're healing up well. I'll look forward to checking up on future posts here in love, lisa. Love ya, Mama Hale
